Why a Solar Shower?

Simple! No one wants to take a cold water shower. Outdoor solar showers get lots of use. Imagine, getting the kids and adults to take a quick shower before entering the Pool or Hot Tub. Maintenance would be drastically reduced. No more lotions, cosmetics, sand, dirt, grass and other contaminants being introduced to the water by bathers. Plus, after getting out of the Pool or Hot Tub you can wash away any chemical residues that may irritate your skin, eyes, or hair. This is a great item for gardeners or for anyone wishing to just take an outdoor shower with water heated by the sun. You don't need a pool or hot-tub to fully enjoy it. The Jacques Giordano Solar Showers were designed in Europe and feature a patented "Soltub" collector. This is the major advantage. It is a solar collector and a hot water storage unit.

With the Giordano Solar Shower you can "stay clean and go green". All Giordano Solar Showers with the patented "Soltub" component produce about 40 KWh per season at no energy cost to you. Many of our customers use the solar shower as their primary shower to save even more on gas, oil, or electricity.

How Hot and for How Long? A very good question. First, let me tell you a little more about the patented "Soltub" collector. It is made from black polyester materials with an "EPDM" jacket. It looks and feels like a larger diameter hose that you would see on a fire truck. Tough stuff to be sure. The "soltub" has a 5.5 gallon capacity (20 liters) of hot water (renewable throughout the day). The water temperature inside the collector tube reaches about 130 F within a few hours after hookup, depending on how shower is positioned towards the sun and where you are located. Cold water is introduced into the bottom of the shower via a standard garden hose or other cold water source. Cold and Hot water mixing taps lets you adjust the water temperature to that "just right" setting. With a fully heated 5.5 gallon "Soltub" collector there is enough hot water to last about 10-12 minutes. That's enough time for many people to leisurely shower. Plus, as soon as the shower is over, new water entering the tube is heated. If more hot water is needed, it's easy to simply add more solar tubes. Additional solar tubes can be daisy-chained together, increasing the Solar Shower's total hot water capacity to more than 60 gallons.

We also offer what is called a "pressure" SolTub that can be purchased for an add-on to non Jacques Giordano solar showers to add more capacity, or even to a home made shower system you would like to convert to a solar shower. You MUST use the Pressure SolTub in these applications because of pressure build-up. Along with the Pressure SolTub you will need our accessory kit that includes a pressure reducer, a manual valve with gauge, and M/F and F/M reducer fittings. Great Quality and An Economical Solution: Jacques Giordano is known for quality. There are thousands of Giordano showers in use today. We offer 3 articulated "angled" Giordano solar showers. The original shower is a cream colored steel model. It is double plated, galvanized, and lacquered for a long-lasting lustrous finish. A brushed stainless steel model was introduced in 2005. For 2008 we offer a new "teak wood" model with a platform base. No other traditional shower installation will give you the same benefit or enjoyment at such a modest price, thus proving that a good application of solar energy is a truly original and economical solution, as well as being clean for the environment. The Solar Shower is as friendly to the environment as it is to your wallet.

Easy to Install

We deliver the Giordano solar shower to you essentially fully assembled. It will take only a few minutes to set it up. We even have an optional aluminum "jig template" if you are pouring a patio or pad. This also works great if you are installing the shower on a wood deck. Simply drill the 4 holes for the shower base holder, position the template through from under the deck and attach the shower to the 4 threaded studs. No special skill is required to install this shower. There are only 4 screws, 4 nuts, and 4 washers on the non-teak models. Showers can be portable as well. You may wish to take the shower with you for camping or other outdoor ventures. Many customers simply bolt it down to a deck or patio. You may wish to install underground plumbing to the unit as a more permanent installation. If you are halfway handy this is a no brainer to do or any plumber can accomplish this very easily and inexpensively.

Optional Aluminum Template Mounting Jig: To facilitate your installation of the Solar Shower you may wish to purchase this product. I have it made at a machine shop out of heavy aluminum flat stock. It is precisely manufactured to fit these showers. You don't need this if you are planning on bolting the shower to a wood deck or if you simply wish to drill into the patio and secure with lags or epoxy. This can be easily accomplished. However, if you are planning on pouring a cement patio or mounting slab, you can use this item. Simply place it in the wet cement with the 4 threaded bolts exposed. After the cement or slab hardens ( a day or so), mount the shower base to it and secure with the special washers and nylon nuts provided. We offer this product at or near our cost.
